Moments is a song that Charlotte wrote awhile back and she brought it forward to our band. We were running out of time and Rowan already knew the chorus chords to the song. We just needed to create a verse which I quickly created by messing around with different chords in the B minor scale. This is one of our shorter songs that we wrote. If I was going to compare it to any genre or style of music I'd have to say contemporary R&B. The song also features Kit freestyling.
This is the structure for the song:
Intro
Chorus
Verse (Charlotte's Verse)
Chorus
Verse (Kit's Verse)
Chorus
Solo (Rowan solos over the Chorus chords)
Chorus
We decided to go for a much simpler structure for this song. We wanted a variation because all of our other songs had lots of chords and different parts where as this song isn't as progressive.
Chorus: Bm7, F#m7, Gmaj7
Verse: Bm7, C#m7, Dmaj7
The drum beat that Jack plays is very similar to Bitch Don't Kill My Power Trip. He changes it during the solo by adding more kicks. My bass really locks in with the drums in this song resulting in a strong rhythm section.
Rowans guitar solo is a major highlight of the song. He adds distortion right before his solo kicks in. There is a lot of power in this solo and there is a big contrast in his style of play during the solo and the rest of the song but it manages to work very well.
