Today was the last lesson practising in the pods. We worked on all of our songs minus Xana, Phil had to fill in for all of our songs sept from our original which we just practised without any drums. I think we're more than ready now, we've practised a lot and have worked on all aspects of importance towards our main performance, the christmas gig. We should have maybe looked a little bit more lively in the pods when practising but other then that I believe we will have a good performance.
Overall it has been pretty good, there have been times where it's been hard to work as a united band but overall we managed to do some good covers of songs leading up to our main Christmas gig which we have been practising for for a few months now. I've learnt that it's good to be open to all sorts of new music that you might not be able to play or be familiar with. It helps to improve you as a musician by opening up to new music and developing your skills as a musician. The whole point of this course is to improve and develop so by playing differetn styles will result in you improving quickly rather than being close minded and sticking to one style or genre that satisifies your playing. As an example you may not want to play soul music when you're older, you may want to stick to only playing metal in you own band. By playing these different genres with people you'll gain experience and you'll be able to insert melodic playing into your style of playing to develop you as a unique sounding musician. At the end of the day, we would all want to be unique in terms of our music so by listening to as much as possible and playing as many different styles as possible you'll become a good musician. Practising and performing with Charlotte, Owen, Elesa, Xana and Luis has massively helped me improve and it has allowed me to cooperate and has set me for the future when I'll be put into my new band after the Christmas holiday.
