Today we had to work on our performance technique which consisted of performing the songs 'Holiday' and 'It Must Be Love'. We were told that we have to move around and actually look like we're enjoying ourselves. The whole point in improving our performance technique is so that we can entertain the audience rather than bore them but not moving or looking like we're having any fun. I now know after that performance that we need to interact with the other band members, look at the crowd ane move away from our amps instead of being in a fixed position which I gathered from some feedback from the other music students.
I also learnt that it depends on what song you're playing and the general mood of the song. By this I mean you can't run around the stage with a song like 'It Must Be Love', you have to groove and not make any fast moves around the stage otherwise it wouldn't look right and we would be failing to entertain the audience. But for a song like 'Holiday' you need a lot of energy because its a Punk Rock song. We as a band need to interact with each other and the audience, to get them to clap along to the beat and even sing the lyrics.
