Today we did a recording of I'd Rather Go Blind in the studio with the help of ED1B Pod 2 who set up the recording and got all the tracks ready so we could record our cover. There was only three members of our band present at the time therefore the sound was somewhat flat and we didn't have any drums. Me and Owen were in the live room where wwe plugged straight into the patch bay which went to the mixing room where Elesa was doing her vocals. She used to sing a part of the song but Charlotte now sings all of the song. Due to Charlotte being away, Elesa had to step in and sing the song. She said she wasn't happy with her vocals and that she wouldn't want to sing again. We learnt that from our recording it sounded flat and there was a lack of dynamics therefore we plan on re-recording the song and starting from scratch with a drum track from Xana and vocals from Charlotte. I was happy with my bass playing and I thought that my other two band members, Owen and Elesa, had good performances. My bass had to really hold down the groove and was the only rhythm instrument in the track so it was important that when I incorporated my bass melodies that they didn't go out of time. The song is in G# and I mainly played my bass lines within the Major Pentatonic Scale which I use for my solo in Sweet Home Alabama. I know that next time to improve my recording in terms of my bass track to hold down the grove and incoporate bass melodies, aside from when root notes, when appropriate.
