The vocals from the Michael Jackson version are quite agressive whilst The Beatles original vocals softer. The tone in Michael Jackson's voice isn't angry but powerful and high, the songs key was changed and this could have been to suit Michael Jackson's high vocal range. The instruments are near enough the same in terms of what they're actually playing. The bass, one of the main melodies in the original, has been slightly changed in how its actually played by using the slapping technique to create a higher end sound with more tone. The original bass line has a more low end feel. The cover uses a lot of 80s production technqiues like gated reverb on the drums, lots of treble on the guitars & bass and electronic drums. The feel of the original song is very laid back, it could be described as stoner rock. Its a somewhat relfection of the time period; early 70s chilled vibes. Whilst the 80s version is very big in terms of sound and it can nearly define the whole sound of that decade in pop music. I like both versions but I prefer The Beatles original for the bass really drives the song with its low end tone whilst the Michael Jackson cover loses that great low end bass and replaces it with a more treble like tone which sounds good but it isn't as affect in my opinion.
